Chicken Cobb Salad is always a summer favorite! An easy main dish or side with great recipe tips for your chicken. Plus it looks fantastic when serving. Choose from the best best Cobb Salad dressings, everyone will love this recipe!

Cobb Salad Ingredients
Cobb Salad is a tasty American salad which has the ingredients placed over the lettuce when served. It is not a tossed salad. Traditionally, Blue Cheese is crumbled alongside your ingredients, but some people find that overpowering. Here's what you'll need.
- Lettuce - a mix of Romaine lettuce and Iceberg lettuce
- Bacon - fried crispy, then chopped
- Chicken - grilled chicken or shredded rotisserie chicken
- Hard Boiled Eggs - try medium boiled eggs for a change
- Green Onions - chopped into pieces
- Tomatoes - vine ripened for best flavor
- Avocado - cubed
- Blue Cheese - I prefer to use my dressing below
- Vinaigrette - only add if not using Blue Cheese dressing
Chicken Cobb Salad
I'm always looking for time savers in my recipes. This salad is usually made with grilled chicken breast or fried chicken. It's super easy to make KFC or Chick-fil-a Cobb Salad, who doesn't love that fried goodness? However, I use a rotisserie chicken, usually from Costco. It's easy to shred the chicken and use the extras for other meals!
Cobb Salad Dressing
Traditionally Cobb Salad Dressing is served with a basic vinaigrette made with oil, red wine vinegar, mustard, garlic and Worcestershire. However, I love making Cobb Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing! Not everyone likes to crumble Blue Cheese over a Cobb Salad. Some find it too strong, but with a homemade Blue Cheese dressing, you control the flavor. Plus you can use it for other salads or as a dip!
Blue Cheese Dressing
- 1 cup Mayo
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced Onion
- 1 teaspoon Vinegar
- squeeze of ½ a Lemon
- 4 tablespoons crumbed Blue Cheese
- Whisk all together, before mixing through the Blue Cheese
Traditional Vinaigrette
- ¼ cup Red Wine Vinegar
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 Garlic clove, minced
- dash of Worcestershire
- salt and pepper to taste
- Vigorously whisk, or shake in glass jar
I Can't Eat Blue Cheese!
Ok, I get it, not everyone loves the strong flavor of Blue Cheese. Don't let that stop you from making this recipe! Here are some Blue Cheese subsitutions.
- Feta Cheese
- Mozzarella Balls (bocconcini)
- Goat's Cheese
- Hard Cheese - Gouda, Edam, Cheddar
Cobb Salad Variations
There are many different proteins you can add to your Cobb Salad. It's easy to change it up! A salad that eats like a meal. Here are my faves;
- Grilled Salmon
- Smoked Chicken
- Ham or Shredded Pork
- Leftover Turkey
- Grilled Shrimp
Summer Salad Ideas
This Chicken Cobb Salad only pretends to be healthy, but it's still a salad so it counts! It has a great visual appeal, perfect for bringing along to a potluck or bbq. However, it's often served as meal on its own. Bon Appetit! Приятного аппетита!
