    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Super Easy - only takes a few minutes of prep and you're done! Anyone can make infused vodka.
    • Perfect for Gift Giving - a thoughtful gift that's easy to make, you can even give it with the pears still infusing, all they need to do is strain it!
    • Tastes Like Christmas in a Glass - the perfect blend of pear infused with the warmth of spices, the flavor is unbelievable!

    Ingredients

    • Green Pears - any variety will do, I like Bartlett, Anjou or Packham Pears
    • Spices - Cinnamon Stick, Star Anise and Cloves
    • Honey - adds natural sweetness and warmth
    • Vodka - a neutral liquor that will absorb the flavors

    How to Make Pear Vodka

    1. Prepare Pear - remove the pear core and slice into thin spears.
    2. Fill the Jar - pack pears into glass jars, with spears standing upright. (about 2 pears per jar) Add cinnamon stick, 1 star anise and 1 clove per jar, with a generous tablespoon of honey.
    3. Add Vodka - fill jar with vodka, fully submerging pears.
    4. Shake and Infuse - close lid, shake and infuse for 7-10 days in a dark, cool place (like a cupboard).
    5. Strain - separate the pears and vodka through a sieve or coffee filter. Save the vodka infused pears as a snack or use for baking.
    6. Bottle and Serve - pour spiced pear vodka into a glass bottle and serve chilled.

What to do with Drunken Pears?

Don't throw the pears away! They are potent flavor bombs that have other uses! These recommendations are for adults only!

    • Eat them - place in fridge in an airtight container and slowly enjoy them (not all in one sitting)
    • Baking - save them for baking pear muffins, pie or a pear cake
    • Blend and Freeze - place in a food processor and blend until smooth. Place into IceCube trays and add into your next cocktail as a flavor boost!

    Recipe Tips and FAQs

    • Good Vodka - choose a quality vodka, don't get the cheapest version, make sure it's 80 proof or 100 proof
    • Try Different Spices - don't like cloves? Skip them! Substitute with cardamom, a small piece of ginger, nutmeg or allspice
    • Vanilla Pear Vodka - simply add a cinnamon stick and a bit of vanilla bean for a vodka infusion that will blow you away
    • Adjust Sweetness - add more honey if needed or substitute with sugar or sugar syrup
    • Infuse in a Single Batch - the recipe recommends infusing in 3 jars, making it easy for gift giving. However, you can infuse in a large, single glass jar

    Can I Use Unripe Pears?

It's best to use firm, ripe pears that impart a sweet and rich flavor. Avoid overripe pears that are too soft.

    Spirit Variations for Pear Vodka

Vodka is the most popular neutral liquor because it takes on flavors easily. Experiment with your favorite spirits like Rum, Gin or White Rum or even Brandy.

    The Flavor is To Strong

It's easy to adjust the strength of flavors in your Vodka infusion. Just add more Vodka! Too sweet? Add more Vodka. Too much spices? Vodka to the rescue again!

    Storage

Keep Pear Vodka in a cool, dark place and it can last for a few months, but the flavor can intensify. My suggestion is to enjoy within 1 month for best flavor. Keep refrigerated so it's always ready to serve!
