This Horseradish Sauce recipe is an easy to make sauce that packs a punch. Creamy, smooth and zesty. It's the perfect condiment to go with Prime Rib Roast, steaks or even on a roast beef sandwich.

Fresh or Prepared Horseradish?
Have you ever tried to grate a fresh horseradish? Do yourself a favor and DON'T! It is so potent and powerful, some people have even used gas masks when preparing homemade horseradish. This might seem a tad much, it's much easier buying the store bought prepared horseradish when making this creamy horseradish sauce.
So many different types of prepared horseradish available. Some are very strong in their 'punch', and other very mild. A standard prepared horseradish is best for this recipe, easy to find, and you can taste and adjust the strength of the flavor as needed.
How to thicken Horseradish Sauce
I hate really runny horseradish sauce, so am always tinkering with the recipe. Usually it's because I adjust the amount of horseradish or lemon juice. I like it with a kick. If you want your Creamy Horseradish Sauce runnier, you can add a bit of whipping cream. For a bit thicker Horseradish Sauce, add a bit of mayonnaise. But I think this simple classic recipe I best. It's the perfect creamy horseradish sauce for prime rib.
I usually make this while the Standing Rib Roast (Prime Rib) is in the oven. This allows it enough time for the flavors to meld together. Just remember to keep it in the fridge until you are ready to serve. Some people call this a type of Horseradish Cream recipe.
