Yummly and Awards

yummly certified

I’ve recently become a publisher with Yummly.com. Yummly allows users to bookmark their favourite recipes from anywhere on the internet, all stored under a central Yummly account. It’s not like allrecipes, where it doesn’t include all recipes (only the ones they control), but you can add any recipe you like to you online recipe book. It’s so simple to use, and you can even get a Yum button on your internet browser. With a click of a button, it automatically adds any recipe to your collection. I hate seeing a cool recipe on the internet, then trying to bookmark it, then losing it or can’t find the million bookmarks I made, Yummly centralises all your recipes, regardless where they came from on the internet. Love it.  You can even use Yummly with the new Apple TV, and on your smart phones and iPads, and the best part is that it’s free.

My Yummly publisher page is http://www.yummly.com/page/petersfoodadventures. So feel free to join yummly and check it out and Yum your favourites!

title=THE INFINITY DREAMS AWARD

The Infinity Dreams Award

It was an honour to be nominated for this award by Anna from Life Bellissima for the Infinity Dreams Award. I was nominated for this award quite some time ago, and am terrible at responding to these, so apologies for the delay! Anna’s blogs about family, organic food/recipes, country living, travels and God’s many blessings.  And she has Rhode Island Red Chickens, which are cool chickens. (Yes, I like chickens and their free, organic, free range eggs). Feel free to visit and check out her blog!

Eleven Facts About Myself
1. What inspired you to start a blog? I started my blog really for 2 reasons. Firstly I wanted to record my recipes that I made, as I have a dreadful memory, and think that it didn’t taste as good as the last time I made it! So with it written down, then I can refer to the recipe if needed. Secondly, I wanted to document some of our Russian recipes that I grew up with, as my parents are getting older, and soon will not be around to be my resource for questions that I may have. That way, it’s also a resource to my kids for when they grow up, to remember the foods that we ate at home. Everything on my site we eat, and aren’t just one offs, for the sake of a blog. We love our food.
2. A new recipe you would like to make that you’ve never tried before? I would love to make a slow roasted, Prime Rib. Yum!
3. Favorite travel destination(s)? Love travelling to Malaysia, specifically Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, which we have gone several times. It’s cheaper for me to fly to Malaysia than to Brisbane for a holiday, and we love the people and the food of Malaysia. It’s a great family holiday destination.
4.  A great weekend would include …? A great weekend away would be somewhere with my family, somewhere warm, and somewhere with lots of great food!
5.  Favorite meal to cook for family and friends? Favourite meal for family and friends is…. all food! I think that food is my love language. I show my appreciation for people through food.
6.  A favorite movie or book? My favourite movie is any Indiana Jones movies.
7.  Something you enjoy about each season?
Spring – blooming flowers
Summer – swimming and warm summer nights
Autumn – enjoying cooler days, after a long hot summer
Winter – love the 18°C/65°F daytime average temperature, cold but not freezing!
8.  If you had free airline tickets, where would you travel? Bora Bora, to a over water beach hut. Perfect.
9.  Name a favorite dessert. (I know it’s hard to pick only one!) Pavlova, with passionfruit. Yum!
10.  Favorite cooking/baking gadget? I love whisks, and have many different ones. (they all have a different purpose, honest)!

My nominees are….
1. Lynne’s Recipe Trails

2. Outlaw_nee

3. Feeding My 3 Sons

4. Smiling Notes

5. White House Red Door

7. The Veggie Cooker

10. The Door Into Promised Lands

11. A Pug in the Kitchen

Your questions: (which are the same, as I like the continuity)
1. What inspired you to start a blog?
2. A new recipe you would like to make that you’ve never tried before?
3. Favorite travel destination(s)?
4. A great weekend would include …?
5. Favorite meal to cook for family and friends?

The Versatile Blogger Award

versatile-blogger-award-nomination
This week, I got nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award from Charlotte at Tales of Chinese Cooking . Thanks for the nomination and please check out her blog, she features authentic Chinese recipes and her photos are great and easy to follow along! It’s really cool to be nominated for an award, as this is my first blogger award from a peer, which I’m grateful for!

Rules for the Versatile Blogger Award:

1. Show the award on your blog
2. Thank the person that has nominated you
3. Share 7 different facts about yourself
4. Nominate 15 blogs of your choice
5. Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination.

Seven Facts About Myself:
1. I live in the world’s most remote capital city, Perth, which is also the world’s sunniest capital city. Love the sun! (was that another fact?)
2. English was not my first language.
3. I love gardening, especially growing things that I can eat. The more exotic, the better. ie. orange watermelons, heirloom tomatoes, garlic chives, loquat tree, white icicle radishes…etc. If I can’t eat it, I generally don’t want to grow it!
4. The coldest temperature I’ve ever been in is -53°C/-63°F. It was too cold! Maybe that was when the seed was planted to move to a warmer, sunnier country?
5. I met my wife while working in a dept store. She was shopping for a husband  music CD’s. Wow that dates us! Yes kids, you had to actually drive to a store to buy music.
6. My favourite drink from Starbucks is their Vanilla Bean Frapuccino – which has no coffee in it. Must be extra blended, I hate random ice chunks!
7. My faith and relationship with God is first and very important to me. He guides and frames my life decisions and has been our rock through many recent storms.
